Patty's Story
What was your condition? "Hip bursitis, carpal tunnel, sore lower back when bending a lot."
What steps had you previously taken to get help? "My PCP diagnosed the hip bursitis and recommended Tylonel/Advil. Carpal tunnel was diagnosed long ago and came and went depending on my activites."
How were you referred to chiropractic? "I attended a carpal tunnel speech given by Dr. Schofield at Northern Tier Library because I was experiencing finger numbness. I knew about and didn't think much of what PCP's would suggest for the problem. I liked what Dr. Schofield suggested and the numbness in my fingers went away when following his treatment plan. So when the hip got bad, I went to Dr. Schofield."
In your words, what did the chiropractor do? "I made an appointment for the hip bursitis when the pain of bed pressure kept waking me at night, and hurting when I walked or stood even for short periods. Dr. Schofield adjusted me and used diathermy to increase the blood flow to the hip joint promoting healing. I was also advised to use ice to reduce inflammation. I felt almost instantaneous relief after "just one treatment" and after my course of treatments and stretching exercieses, my hip is something I don't even think about anymore."
What are your hobbies and interests? "Gardening and art."
How has chiropractic helped your hobbies and interests? "I can stand any amount of time without pain. I can pinch things between my fingers without numbness. I can bend over to garden without a sore back."
How has chiropractic helped other aspects of your life? "Standing, walking and bending without a lot of pain is pretty wonderful!"
Words of encouragement to others? "It isn't necessary to live on a steady diet of over-the-counter pain killers. Pain can be either eliminated or else managed so it will not adversely affct the things you like to do with a minimally time consuming and minimally invasive method."
